PRC and sensorship............ Empty PRC and sensorship............

Post by Ridepate Thu Sep 05, 2013 12:37 am

I've never had the experience on a forum, and I've been a member of many, that is so sponsor-driven.... I liked the place, but being vocal about a sorry-product and then being post-whored by buddies.....Man what a shot in the foot.,..

I just don't understand their reasoning in banning you!  That's the main reason for these forums... Information!  Whether it's positive or negative feedback, that's the whole point.  Unbiased information.  If it's the truth, then it shouldn't be a problem, right! I really hate that happened.

On the subject of sponsors... I'm not sure how most forums work, as I've only been a member of two, up to this point. PRC being one, and cummins forum being the other.  Cummins forum really doesn't seem to be "sponsor driven" as the other.  I understand that PRC keeps the forum free, by support from their sponsoring vendors. Whereas cummins forum is still free, you have the option to contribute by buying a membership.  With the paid membership, among a few other things, you get a nice "Premium Member" in your avatar showing your support.  I was happy to pay for a membership there, simply because it was a wealth of information, and I wanted to contribute.  I guess what I'm saying is, if it will keep things unbiased, and if this sight needs some support, I think that might be something to consider... Giving members the choice to have a paid "Premium" membership.  Just something to think about!

Jim you know anything about this ? I just got this email from Gary

Here is a series of posts with Jim (collimator). I would like you to come back and sit on a panel with Jim and I and see if we can do a more through and fair job of dealing with sponsor issues. If you would consider this, just register again with your same info and maybe we can do some good for all our members, instead of struggling back and forth.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi guys..this is Gary. I'm not sure the Jim is getting my emails, but I have activated him back onto PRC, and I would like you back too. This is a nice start on a new forum, by the way. There is always room for one more!

I never wanted you off from PRC Bigmoss. I thought you wanted off and I was doing what you asked. You guys did make your point and I would like to have a panel of PRC to work with sponsor issues. You two seem sincere on this topic and I think the three of us, working together, can make a big difference if we can come up with a fair and consistent way to deal with sponsor issues.

If you guys will come back you can still run this forum too. You are both good guys and I would like you to be able to enjoy both forums.

Gary,
I have not received any E-mails. Not sure why. I apologize somewhat, partially for my outbursts. But it really ticks me off when a posting is dictator-deleted by mods that have too much power, or are not even polite-enough to send a PM before taking action.
It just not right!!! No cursing was involved, no "That XXX sucks" anything. I understand the relationship with sponsors, but in-turn they have to understand it's a public forum.
If they are so thinned-skinned that they cannot take some constructive-criticism, and in-turn threaten to bail on a forum, it would be "See-Ya" from me.

I'm going to take a self-induced time-out from PRC for a while. I've got a lot of work to do here!

I think a lot of our problems were due to miscommunication. I know I sent emails that weren't received. At any rate, Jim you are activated so come and go as you please. In fact I wish both of you would get back on line with us.

I handled this sponsor problem issue poorly as it relates to you two and for that I apologize. I'm wish I had set up a panel earlier to handle sponsor issues. I would still like to see that done and you two would be great to sit on such a panel.

Good luck on your forum guys. I wish you the best and I hope you will still participate on PRC as well.

I know something happened on PRC, not sure of the specifics.
I do realize that the sponsorship shapes the PRC forum to a degree.
But I would like to say:
I have talked to Mr.Lenon a couple of times and met him and his family at the PRC rally this year.
I enjoyed talking to him and feel that his responses to the situation on this forum to be genuine.

I agree Tox. Gary is a good-guy, no doubt. And he honestly handles situations way better than I could ever. I think it comes down to some personality conflicts on the moderator end. One in particular don't like me, and that's fine. I'll deal with it.

Here is a perfect example of a vendor trying to bait me into a heated discussion.

http://www.prcforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=59905

"If both are 2" you should have the same results."

A- He should have just kept his mouth-shut.
B- He is totally wrong ,and I KNOW it!!! I've personally installed both lifts. His binds the axles, Bills does not..........
C- All lifts are NOT created equal.
D- The geometry on the BWA lift is WRONG!!!!!! It's way more than 2-inches, set at 2.....You have to actually try to compress the fronts to even get them in the brackets. Bills fall right-in!

Out of respect for Gary........I'll leave it be.

I don't know the specifics either, but I applaud Gary for what seems to be a heart felt apology. My only complaint with PRC is how they shove the sponsors down your throat. It's one thing to mention it once in a while but they go overboard with it in my opinion. Some folks enjoy manufacturing homemade things, and some just don't have the extra cash to spend.
